Be they the Space Marines or the Galactic Patrol, there will always be those who will fight hard and, if necessary, give their lives to defend their species and freedom.

In this book, one intelligent being steps forward to save a species from itself and its world from ecological disaster. And that intelligent being is "just a cook."
The first part of the book is interesting, but somewhat listless. It's only after the cook is forced to leave Sector General hospital that it becomes a page turner.
