This is fun, light hearted SF. If you're looking for deep, serious contemplation of the future, this isn't the place to go. But if you want an amusing story about weird properties of physics, industrial espionage, a strange new drug, flying saucers, a really bad band, aliens, and a mix of other oddities, this is the place to go. The author is also a character in the story, but mostly passive, and not usually the actual narrator. An interesting literary device, and an interesting and amusing story, but nothing that will change the world. Have fun with it!
