Summary:
Lucy and Owen are somehow meant to be with one another. They meet during a blackout in a New York apartment building, but most of their relationship is built through postcards, emails, and phone calls. Lucy moves abroad with her family and Owen moves to the west with his father. There is great distance between the two of them, but somehow they seem to make it work.

My thoughts:
Smith is always good for a few things: character building, emotional connections, and romance. This book does not disappoint in those areas. While it is not typical for the romance to take place long distance, it definitely adds another element to the story. I felt more connected to each character than I anticipated. Through the letters, I felt like I got to know the characters more. There is something about letter writing that really allows the personality to come through. While a typical Smith novel focuses upon the relationship budding, this novel focuses more on the development of each character and their particular journey as the two get to know each other. Because of this, I felt like it was a better novel overall that some of her past, but if you are looking for a teen romance then this might not hit the right spot.
