This is the continuation of House on Tradd Street. I would definately read The House on Tradd Street before reading this book so you know what is going on. This book doesn't repeat much as to what happened in the first book. This is not really a scarry book but it does have some ghosts in it. This book is intreging and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next.
As with the first book, this book jumps also jumps right in and gets you hooked from the beginning. In my opinion the first book was better, but I still enjoyed reading it and can not wait until Karen White writes another.

Another good read from Karen White on the history and mystery of Charleston, SC. Her books acquaint you with historical Charleston.

I forced myself to finish reading THE GIRL ON LEGARE STREET. It was a disappointment. Maybe if I had read THE GIRL ON TRADD STREET first I might have thought a little better of this one. I doubt it. I wish I had not wasted my time. It was not well developed. How many times did I read about the narrator's poor eyesight? Too many!

I love this series and am really looking forward to the final (?) installment later in 2010. It's so hard to find a well done ghost story and the romantic thread is certainly keeping my interest!

While I very much enjoyed the ghost story, complete with family trees, puzzles, and piracy, the main character was irritating. She's almost 40 but acts quite childish. (She can also eat as much sugar as she wants without gaining weight - how is this helpful in a heroine?) She's oblivious to obvious clues and her own emotions. I was surprised to see the story categorized as a romance because she spends most of the book angry at and refusing to speak to the "hero." The reconnection between her long estranged parents was romantic and the secondary characters are enjoyable if somewhat caricature-like. It got me through a plane ride, but I won't be seeking out the other book(s) in the series.

I really enjoyed the book, but was let down by the ending. There are many unanswered questions about the main characters, Melanie and Jack. I really hope Karen White writes a 3rd book to this series.
