A pioneer in the genre of teen friendship and love. Well-written and sensitively done.

Brilliant, brilliant story. I first read it as a teenager, although it's definitely NOT a book meant for teens. (You learn in the first few pages that the 18 yr old Peter is writing his lawyer from a jail cell, charged with murdering the headmaster at his school.)
But even as a teenager the story struck me with its raw emotions and the amazing friendship between Peter and Jordan. It's not a story you'd easily forget. One of my favorite all-time novels, powerfully written, humorous at times, chilling in others. I've read it several times and it will always be on my "Keeper" shelf. Simply brilliant.
