This trilogy sucked me in very quickly; even when I wasn't really sure what was going on -- Duncan keeps you on your toes because the point of view and location of the story changes from book to book. It is an alternate worlds fantasy that melds complex themes of religion, love, and good versus evil although it is not always clear which is which! If you love Dave Duncan's work, you'll love the trilogy.
