The Great Plains by Walter Prescott Webb (pub. 1929)

I just got this book on PBS, and have read about 100 pages. Does anyone know anything about the book and/or the author?

John, I goggled his name, because when I read your post, that middle name of his made me suspect he was related to the famous historiographer, W.H. Prescott. who wrote The History of Mexico and The History of Peru. But the biographical notes don't go into genealogical details. (You recall, that the patriarch of the Bush clan had the first name Prescott. I have no idea why . . . just a small memory flash at the word.)
