Hank (the cow dog) is the Head of Ranch Security a position he takes very seriously. John Erickson, has a knack of writing his books as if Hank himself is telling the story from a dog's point of view. My 6 year old son and I read these together, and the students in my 5th grade class can't get enough of these books. They are very fun and entertaining stories that give insights on daily life on a ranch through the eyes of Hank the Cow Dog.

A good book, but more for ages 9-12. It is a children's murder mystery which would not be appropriate for preschoolers or kindergartners.
The adventures of hank the cowdog. Hank lives on a ranch and many great adventures this book has 2 stories in one. a great read
