What an absolutely stunning, epic finale to the ultimate battle for the future of wizardry. Rowling has definitely progressed beyond children's literature with this one - be prepared for some very adult situations. As all her books are, this is difficult to put down; every chapter leaves you hanging. There are some pretty sharp twists in this, so pay attention!

What Rowling does beautifully in this is wrap up loose ends. All of your Harry Potter mysteries will be solved. What she also does is tack on what I felt was a superfluous epilogue; but, for the characters she mentions, it is comforting to know how they turned out.

I think anyone who reads this book will agree that this is a bittersweet book. It is by far the best book in the series, but I hate to see it end. I have come to love the Harry Potter series and most of the characters. J.K. Rowlings is a superb author. I can't imagine being able to create such a creative and magical story like Harry Potter. As much as I hated to have this wonderful series come to a close, the ending couldn't have been better. I finished this book with a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart. I fell in love with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, and the Weasley family over the years. I can't bear to think of never anxiously waiting for another installment of this fabulous story ever again.

Rowling does an artful job of pulling together lose ends in this final book in the series staring everyone's favorite young wizard. As someone who grew up with the books, I feel entitled to say that these books relate a story for all age groups. It is a must read that uses magical ideas to portray a great story of friendship, personal conflict, and self-sacrafice. Supprises abound.

I'll try to avoid spoilers since this book was released just today...

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I found the first half a little too "long" and "more of the same". The next 400 pages were really great. The end - I don't yet know how I feel. I liked it, but it still left me feeling unsatisfied, for lack of a better way of explaining it. This was also probably the darkest of the series, a lot of despair. I missed some of the humor of the other books and the sometimes silliness. I dunno... will have to see how I feel about it in a week or two.

You cannot deny the "magic" of these books though. The story, the characters, the writing. It all crushes you in. I'm sad to see the series come to an end...

Wow! I think that this was the best book yet! I was amazed at how so many different issues/characters/lessons from all other 6 books were worked into the story. Cried my eyes out several times! I think this is master storytelling at it's very best. I didn't feel that it dragged on at all!! I couldn't put it down at any point, it just kept me wanting more...until the end! I was sure that I would feel like the ending wasn't enough, or would leave me wondering about the future, but in reality I found myself very satisfied with complete closure. Perfection!!

I thought Rowling did a fantastic job wrapping up the Harry Potter series in book 7. In the series you can really feel the characters growing up, their maturity shining through in the decisions they are faced to make. And Book 7 is no exception. I laughed, I cried, I was giddy and heartbroken. I felt as though she wrapped up the series the best way possible, with a finality that leaves me wanting more but realizing that it won't come, and that's just fine.

What a fantastic book! Definitely action packed, especially towards the end, made it very hard to put down and go to work! I really felt like Rowling did a good job of tying the other books together in the end. Had me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but worth ever twist and turn, up and down. I wish that the epilogue gave us a little more information about the characters lives, but nevertheless, it was an extraordinary finish to a magical series. I was heartbroken when I found out this was definitely the last book. This series was absolutely amazing, and I LOVED this book. The ending made me wish for more, but it still had a sense of completion to it. You get caught in the story from the first page and it's really hard to put it down. It was well written, and never boring or tiring.

It was a wonderful book, not my fav of the series but still good. I believe that she will write another book for the series based on the ending.

The ending I felt like it left a lot of loose ends that she could have tied up if she wanted to, but she didn't. Also there were still some questions that were not answered that should have been. I felt like we were still left with several lose ends after finishing the book, and I would wonder, well what about this in this book, what did that mean or do, and what about this..and she never did go into detail of it.

It is packed with action, but a few parts do draw out a bit, which it seems like in HBP that this was the case as well.

The storyline does fit, and though the ending was a bit different (I was expecting a bit more for final fight but oh well) it still worked.

But if you're a fan you'll still love the book and treasure it. If you're not a fan, this book won't mean much to you, as you won't understand the story and who does what for the greater good. You'll have to read the other books first in order to understand this last book.

This is the hard cover edition - tidy wrap up of the popular series. I've enjoyed them all and I won't give away any twists and turns in the book - you will find plenty of them. I highly recommend you read the first six books before reading this book or you won't be able to follow the story line very easily.

This was an excellent ending to the whole series. It is packed with action as the threesome leave behind the usual Hogwarts and set out to slowly destroy Lord V. Relationships bud and characters' true lights are revealed. Lots of the side stories and characters from the previous books get pulled back in and are tied in to form a perfect ending, a bittersweet one at that! You are proud of the young man that Harry has become. I only wish now it wasn't over. The last two in the series are the best, in my opinion. 5/5

I was very pleased with the way that J.K. Rowling wrapped up her series. Some say that she sold out with her happily ever after ending, but honestly, I'm happy with the way it all ended. In a way, I'm kind of relieved that there won't be anymore Harry Potter books. Rowling didn't over-use her characters and I was transfixed through the whole book. Granted, I didn't do anything else for two whole days..... It was a good investment and the Harry Potter series will always have a place on my keeper shelf.

I will be honest and say this was my least favorite book of the series. While I respect others' impressions of this book, I personally feel it was overrated from the get-go. The storyline was long, drawn out, and slow-moving up until the last three chapters, which seemed overloaded with events and information. It was almost as if Harry Potter himself had placed a confundus charm on the chapters. The epilogue was in a "lickity-split, that's it" format, and I was so hoping for a much more detailed description of "life after Hogwarts". I truly hope Rowling plans on deviating from her plans of making this the last book. I feel Harry, Hermione, Ron and their schoolmates - deserved better.

The final book in the series did not disappoint. Voldemort is in control, people really are dropping like flies all around Harry, and he and his two best friends are on the run. Forget the seat, you'll be on your feet with all the Drama and action going on in this book.

I really loved the ending of this series. Minus the epilogue - that was horrible, and I wish Rowling had just skipped it. Sorry, but Hermione's career sounds like a total waste of her intellectual abilities.

Also, my absolutely favorite character didn't make it. I loved this character so much, I;d have rather had Harry die than this one! But, I understand these books are for kids not adults, so I can't complain too much.

How can I say anything bad about Harry Potter. I cut mt fantasy teeth and these books. Have read the entire series who knows how many times. Love them all! Great reads for everyone! *****CAUTION: I would mention that the further up the Harry Potter series goes, the more mature the subject matter. Before giving this book to a child, an adult should preview it. Deathly Hollows IS NOT for CHILDREN!!! Should be read by an adult only!

There are so many plot twists and turns in this book, it's impossible to cover them all. DH is the last and (imho) best book in the HP series. It is the most mature and 'dark,' and has a very different feel to it. The trio is constantly on the move throughout the story, being chased and searching for horcruxes to destroy. They meet up with several other characters, including Voldemort himself. The absolute best scene is at Hogwarts toward the end of the story, where the final "battle" takes place. The consequences of it are bittersweet; both great and tragic.

What can I say? This was a good ending to the best series I have ever read. I was surprized by some of the deaths that happened and was actually very upset at one, but I understand that it needed to happen to make the story work. I think that all of the mini stories throughout the series were just about all answered by the end. There are one or two more things that I'd like to know, but I can live with the not knowing as they were all minor things. Over all, my third favorite in the series and worth the wait.

This book is a spectacular and amazing ending to a series I have spent my entire life with. I feel like I know all the characters personally and they will always be a part of me because of all the adventures I have had the privilege of sharing with them.
J.K. Rowling continues her fantastic story-telling with DH. In my opinion, this book is the best in the series. It is filled with more hard decisions and startling revelations than all the others.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I will recommend it to all my friends even after the next generations have forgotten about the Boy Who Lived.

I have to laugh when I see this series as listed for readers ages 9-12. I was in my 50s when I discovered these books and devoured them...several times. Besides being a great story they reminded me of the great joy reading was to me as a young child. And from what I saw it introduced several more generations of both children and adults to the same joy I experienced. Bravo J.K.Rowling!

I had this book sitting on my shelf for a long while. I was fearful to find out what happened. I'm glad I finally picked it up. It was a quick, exciting read, from the first page until the last. There are a couple of tragedies that I wasn't prepared for. The conclusion of the series ends perfectly with very few gaps remaining.

The highly-anticipated novel that flew off shelves upon its late July 2007 release gives light to the treacherous, secret-telling pasts of some of the series' central characters and brings a pattern of unexpected deaths that all formulate the halcyon, if not surprising, conclusion.

Though some developments in Hallows that required careful attention in the previous novels may occasionally force the reader to go back a chapter (or book) or two, Potter fanatics will find such details creating funny and relaxing situations, such as Hermoine Granger's efforts to free house-elves or gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid's housing of the giant Grawp. This has been the only book with which I've had the utmost urge to cry over one page and die from laughter over the very next.

Compared with Hallows' twists, turns and way-too-close-for-comfort encounters, Potter's preceding adventures look like he was caring for Flobberworms. The never-ending chase by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's Death Eaters is relentless and nail-biting, and sudden character unions and separations only add to the suspense.

Rowling has taken the world of Harry Potter to its fullest potential with Hallows, telling concisely of both sides of a war of good against evil. Only until the very last page was read in completion was I convinced of who was truly victorious in this battle. But even when every last word encased within the book's hard shell had been seen and understood by my own eyes, it still made me question a lot of things about the world that Rowling had created, things meant to have no answer. And even the questioning of truly real things may arise, for Rowling's perspective of blood-spilling, though purposive, conflict is quite accurate in our current times. With each person, however, the question remains whether our 'wand' is truly our own...

This final book in the series is a wonderful end to a wonderful series. After Dumbledores death in the previous book, Harry, Hermoine and Ron must fulfil the wishes of their headmaster and find the seven horcruxes, destroy them and put an end to the rule of "He who must not be named". This book grabs you from the beginning when you realize that things are not always what they seem, people are not who you thought they were and questions are answered with characters background stories finally being told. This story is much darker than the previous books, but all that is played out against the tender love that is blooming.

My feelings while reading this book were very bittersweet. Even knowing how it would play out, I wanted to savor this last Harry Potter story. Knowing I would cry as some of the main characters are killed did not deter me. The same feeling of hopelessness I felt before came back, compassion for Harry to lose so many loved ones, anger on his behalf for the cruelties and evil committed against him for no good reason and lastly pride that in spite of it all, Harry continues to be a giver instead of a taker, a boy quickly becoming a man and putting the needs of others in front of his own. Even at the very end, knowing that one of them must die, he is willing to make that ultimate sacrifice.

Most of this story takes place away from Hogwarts, unfortunately. Though Rowling does an amazing job of drawing us into the world Harry is currently situated, I still found myself missing the days at Hogwarts, as Im sure Harry did. Sadly, there was no Quidditch, no Peeves to contend with, no excursions to Hogsmeade on the weekends and no Halloween feast. After seven years, I had become so enamored of life at Hogwarts that not being able to be there bothered me a great deal. Instead, Harry is living in hiding with Ron and Hermione as public enemy #1. He is being hunted by Death Eaters constantly. After a very near miss when Harry is being moved from the Dursleys and again at Bill and Fleurs wedding, Harrys only choice is to hide while hunting the Horcruxes. Luckily for him and Ron, Hermione foresaw this eventuality and planned ahead with supplies. Unfortunately, none of them know where to find the Horcruxes or how to destroy them.

Their quest takes them to several places as they try to decipher the clues that Dumbledore left for them. Tempers are short as well. They are all frustrated and I felt frustrated for them. Ultimately, the war comes full circle as Harry and his friends return to Hogwarts for the final showdown with Voldemort and his followers. Harry learns many truths that were kept from him until now and I felt that finding them out now made his resolve stronger. I dont think he could have or would have appreciated the significance of the Deathly Hallows in his first or second year.

So now I have finished the series, breaking my own rule of never re-reading a book. I am so happy I did. I have thoroughly enjoyed this adventure with Harry, Ron and Hermione once again and I must say that this time around was even better. I am sad to see it end, however. This is a story that could have stretched into another 3 books, in my opinion. I will miss Harry, Ron and Hermione but I know they are just a short distance away from me anytime I want to visit them again.

Its Harrys final year at Hogwarts but Harry, Hermione and Ron arent planning to return to Hogwarts for their final year. Dumbledore has died and Voldemorts evil forces are out to conquer the world. Harry and his friends have determined that they are going to join forces and fight Voldemort.

They set out on their own to follow the clues left by Dumbledore so that Harry can conquer Voldemort once and for all.

Another well written and enthralling book in the series. I was again drawn into the life and struggles of Harry and his friends.

If you're a fan of fantasy, the situations, characters, and creatures presented in this book are a pure treat, but it would all be for naught if the human story within this incredibe environment wasn't written with the same deftness. Although witches and wizards with amazing powers, the characters of this series are instantly recognizable and undeniably human beings, and the dramatic story full of universal truths that Rowling has been able to tell is nothing short of overwhelming. A fantastic and exhausting end to an incredibe fantasty series that should be required reading for all!

I waited forever to read the conclusion to the HP series, presumably because I didn't want it to end, but more accurately, because I had been waiting so long for it to come out in paperback that I forgot about it!

While it appears to be a very thick, very long book, I sped through it in an evening and a half. Like the HP books before it, once I started, it was hard to put down. A great story and a nice conclusion to the series.

I found myself wanting to skip big portions of this book. I wanted answers and at times felt it was drawn out too long. Maybe I was just too impatient! My advice for anyone who feels this way is "don't skip"! There are little clues you'll miss. I didn't enjoy this book as much as "The Half Blood Prince". Very difficult at times, because it feels so dark and depressing. Emotionally tough to deal with the things Harry had to go through. That's the mark of a good author, I suppose!

Although that did at least give me the benefit of being able to read the entire series as quickly as I wanted. Its kind of like ripping off a bandaid you just want to read it all at once!

The seventh book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series leaves me asking one question...is there a rating higher than 5 Stars? If so, this is one of those books that deserves it. Rowling winds up the series with a fantastic story. Nearly all of the major characters that we were introduced to throughout the series are back. I was happy to see some of my favorites...Hagrid, Lupin, Fred and George Weasley, and Professor MacGonagall. I was even happy to see one of the characters I actually despised, Dolores Umbridge, was back in this book. Some characters live to the end of the book, but some don't. I actually cried at one point. Kudos to the narrator of the audio version, Jim Dale, for his fantastic work in this series. My rating: 5 Stars.
