Another great Ranney story. Kathryn, the young Lowlands widow of a brutal husband and who is the bastard sister of the current earl, is sent, along with her five year-old son, to accompany her niece to the Highlands after the niece has become the bride of the Highlands Laird, Hugh MacDonald.
