Many years ago I read a short story collection with Alfred Hitchcock's name on it. Not sure if it was one of the Alfred Hitchcock Presents, or something else.

I can only remember two stories out of the book... one of which was titled "Reduce Today" (if I remember correctly) and had to do with a mailman delivering packages with the words Reduce Today prominently displayed on them--only to discover that the homes of the package recipients began to physically shrink until they had disappeared.

The other story had to do with a man who was having nightmares of being chased across an Arabian desert by people with scimitars. I believe the title had some hue of red in it (Crimson, Vermillion, etc.)

I have checked PBS and Googled and checked Amazon and cannot figure out which book I'm looking for! I would very much like to return this one to my collection.

Thanks in advance!

Adrian

After searching for years... I found the book I was looking for--in my mother's basement. Inside was a sales receipt was from Goodwill in 1992. I must have purchased the book myself in high school and left it there when I went to college.

The book is "Alfred Hitchcock Presents a Month of Mystery" and the stories in question are "Special Delivery" by John Keefauver and "The Janissaries of Emilion" by Basil Copper.

Mystery solved!
