Disclaimer: I know the author slightly. We've met a cople times and have mutual friends.
That said for a VERY early book this is really quite good! No there aren't mar-vel style space battles or ray guns, it isn't that kind of book. What there ARE are interesting characters working in unison to achieve a goal that may not be wanted by all.
So enjoy and if it doesn't make you think then check your software.
