As Alice reads it aloud each evening to her sisters, Louise and Jane, the hidden history of their beloved father sheds new light on his life and their own.
Meanwhile, a guest at Grace Chapel Inn turns out to be the sister of Mark Graves, veterinarian Alice dated back in nursing school. Jane invites him to dinner and Alice and Mark end up doing late night surgery on a plum-pie-eating pig. Will the time they've spent together lead to more?

This was a good History lesson for the reader. An old journal from their dads teenage years was found that not only tells the sisters about their dads early life it lets the reader learn along with them. We also find out that Alice did indeed find love in her earlier life only to let it go. In this book Mark comes back into her life and you will just have to read it to find out what happens.
Clara Horn (one of the comic relief characters) in this book has recently lost her husband and she is lonely. To the town's dismay she has gone out and bought herself a Potbellied Pig that she names Daisy!! Lots of laughter here!! I will add that Mark comes to Daisy's rescue when she gets herself in a live or die situation!! This 2nd read of the Grace Chapel Inn series just pulls the reader in to want more of this endearing town and its cast of characters!
