This book is actually divided into two separate accounts of Thomas Jefferson. The first is told by one of his slaves, Isaac, and the second is told by an overseer of his Monticello property, Captain Edmund Bacon. Obviously these are two separate types of perspectives but both are fascinating and filled with surprising, sometimes funny and very candid details about Jefferson, his friends, slaves and family. Also included at the back is his will. A delightful book that transports you in time and is a very easy read.
