Let's make July a good month! :-)  My goal this month is to try a few new things (borrow DVDs from the library for variety, maybe ride my poor forgotten bike, etc).  I also want to try to do some kind of stregth training 2 or 3 times a week.  I really love my new Jackie Warner videos so I think those will help.

7/1/11 No workout
7/2/11 50 minutes- Everybody Steps: A guide to step aerobics by Gin Miller

I borrowed this from the library. It was good for learning the terminology and moves for step aerobics, but I didn't really feel like I was working too hard until the last 15 minutes of the actual workout part (not including the cool down). So I don't see it having replay value for me, so I'm glad it was just borrowed from the library & can go right back.
7/3/11 30 minutes Step and Dance Aerobics with Nekea Brown (step segment)- this was the other step DVD I borrowed from the library and I wasn't really impressed by this either. The search is still on for a good step DVD for me.

10 minutes Denise Austin Personal Training System Upper Body High intensity (used 8 lb weights)
7/4/11 15 minutes- Personal Training with Jackie: Crunch-Free Xtreme Abs (floor work segments)

15 minutes- Personal Training with Jackie: Power Circuit Training (15 minute Lower Body segment)
7/5/11 No workout
7/6/11 15 minutes- Denise Austin Blast Away the Pounds Indoor Walk- segment 2: Fat Blasting Interval Walk (used the step a few times to boost up the workout on some slower parts)

15 minutes- Denise Austin Blast Away the Pounds Indoor Walk- segment 3: Power Walk and Tone (15 minute mile)- used 5 lbs weights
7/7/11 No workout
7/8/11 27 minutes- Level 2 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (5 lb weights)- alternated between 5 and 8 lbs weights
7/9/11 15 minutes- Personal Training with Jackie: Crunch-Free Xtreme Abs (standing segment)
7/10/11 No workout
7/11/11 37 minutes- walk to and from workshop for work (it was so close I had to walk it), and walking to the dry cleaners afterwards to pick up dry cleaning
7/12/11 22 minutes- walk to and from workshop for work (sadly the next workshop isn't until August)
7/13/11 No workout
7/14/11 No workout
7/15/11

35 minutes- Element: Yoga for stress relief and flexibility- Stress Relief segment

Borrowed this one from the library and it wasn't really what I was expecting.  I'll try the flexibility segment before I return it.  Hopefully I like that segment better.

7/16/11 No workout
7/17/11 30 minutes- Jillian Michaels: Shred-It with Weights
Had to stop using the kettlebell in the last 8 minutes or so  and switch to an 8 lb hand weight because it was getting to be too much.

10 minutes Denise Austin's Best Belly Fat-Blasters (7th segment- Hit the Spot Core Complete: Core and Legs)
7/18/11 No workout
7/19/11 30 minutes- Denise Austin's Hot Body Yoga- segment 1
Borrowed this one from the library in my attempt to try to replicate the "happy hour yoga" we were doing at work earlier this year (can't wait for that to start again, hopefully in the fall), and this one is closer than the one I did last week but not quite there yet.

15 minutes- Personal Training with Jackie: Power Circuit Training (15 minute Total Body segment)
7/20/11

30 minutes- Personal Training With Jackie: Xtreme Timesaver Training

30 minutes- Element: Yoga for stress relief and flexibility- Flexibility segment
WTF- the first segment was way too easy and then then segment started off OK, then ended with moves that you'd have to be a bendy straw to do! :-P  I guess this one's going right back to the library.  The search continues...

7/21/11 30 minutes- Denise Austin's Hot Body Yoga- segment 2
I liked this segment better. It was yoga inspired weight moves and I feel like it got my heart pumping more than any of the other videos I borrowed from the library recently.
7/22/11 No workout
7/23/11 30 minutes- 2 Mile Brisk Walk (Leslie Sanson Walk Away the Pounds Ultimate Collection)
7/24/11 30 minutes- Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 (Level 1)
7/25/11 40 minutes- Personal Training with Jackie: Power Circuit Training (40 minute Total Body segment)
7/26/11 about 45 minutes lawn mowing (first day it hasn't been oppressively hot in a long time, but this still made me so sweaty and tired so I'm counting it as today's workout! :-P)
7/27/11 50 minutes- YogaWorks for Everybody: Body Slim
I borrowed this from the library on a continued search for a yoga DVD that I like, and I think this might be it finally! :-) I liked how the positions kept moving, though certain parts, especially the first few minutes with the core work, are probably more yoga-inspired than actual yoga.
7/28/11 30 minutes- Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 (Level 2)
I decided to give Week 2 a try since doing Week 1 earlier this week didn't seem as challenging. I think I'll stick with Week 2 for a while since I have to do the modified moves for a few of the exercises (and I couldn't do the plank jacks and the mountain climbers at all from the one cardio circuit since my bad wrist was acting up today and I did jumping jacks and high knees in their place).
7/29/11 No workout
7/30/11 30 minutes- Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 (Level 2)
7/31/11 60 minutes Super Challenge (Leslie Sanson Walk Away the Pounds Ultimate Collection)

I know what you mean brenna- it is terrible to spend your money on exercise stuff and not like it.  Glad you borrowed it.

I know what you mean Angela, work for me has been the pits too!  My Motto this month:   Every day of excercise is a new beginning as I can't seem to do more than one day in a row.

The month is more than halfway done and I still haven't taken a ride on my bike yet!  It's just been too darn hot and gross out, and according to the news it's not supposed to get any better for a while.  Perhaps I'll have to put the bike riding idea off until September when hopefully it is cooler (I've also been leery about going outside for extended periods of time because I'm matron of honor in a wedding in a few weeks and the dress is strapless.  I'm a pasty pale person by nature and sunscreen never seems to help much, so I don't want to risk weirdo tan/burn lines before the big day).

Brenna- I agree this heat is miserable. I just caught my dog tearing up a roll of toilet paper - she is missing her daily long walks but it is too hot even after dark.

Stephenie- I just want the heat wave to break so I can mow the lawn. At least it's not just my house because I don't think anyone wants to mow the lawn in this weather.  Then again, if this heat keeps up, the grass won't need to be mowed because it will whither up and die from the heat and lack of water (since we are under water advisory). :-P

This has been a really bad month for me.  Did do some gardening, weeding in the heat, but could not get up to excersing.   On vacation this week so just enjoying relaxing, house work and reading.  Hope to get back on program staring tomorrow.  My first day back to work.
