Nika and Madoc's story is one I have waited (impatiently) to read. And I was not disappointed! It is quite a ride and a LOT of questions get answered. This book really pulled all the pieces of this series together for me. I couldn't put it down, page after page kept me glued to it, needing to know what would happen next. So much happens, but I don't want to spoil anything. Some of the team is lost, we find others along the way, and Nika and Madoc finally become the couple that we all new they would be (sorry to spoil that, but you knew it would happen). Their story is sweet, tragic, and full of impossible odds. But I loved every page of it. I am anxious to find out what happens with Torr and Grace, what will happen to Tori, and how will all the new players weave into the series. I am going to pre-order it as soon as amazon.com has it listed!

Spoilers ahead...

So Nika and Madoc finally end up together like everyone knew they would. Great. Now the juicy stuff has come out like Gilda making all the men infertile and why Sibyl's twin Maura became evil and why they have never grown and what the Sanguinar's ( vampire guys ) have been up to with that Project Lullaby they have mentioned so much. Some people die and new characters are brought up, but I have no idea what their significance is to the series yet and some more females have been found. Nika finally saves Tori, but she's all messed up so hopefully Shannon K. Butcher writes a another great book telling her story and where she ends up. This book is going to leave you with answers to old questions, but a long list of new questions.

I couldn't wait to read Madoc and Nika's story. I really liked both characters. You know how with some romance, you have one person loving another but giving up on them because it's the right thing to do. Usually, I hate those romance plot lines because the reasoning is usually really dumb and aggravating. There is a similar plot line with that here but it actually makes some sense. So it isn't as annoying and also Butcher doesn't drag it out.

Somehow Andra got really annoying for me. Andra knew Nika was psychic yet she still wrote Nika off as crazy. Disappointed not to read more on Zach and Lexi but you get introduced a few other new characters. I also really liked what Butcher did with Tori's reactions at the end.

There were a lot more on Project Lullaby (really thought it would be more sinister), Gilda's secrets, and the creepy seer kids. One word, poor Angus.

Read them in order because there are a lot to keep track of. Looking forward to reading more from this series.

While I enjoy the Sentinel Wars series, LOVE Madoc and Nika's tortured pasts and eagerly anticipated reading their story, I found myself somewhat disappointed. Two reasons seem to glare:

1. Madoc is dying, he is harsh, vulgar and intentionally unlikable. That's part of what draws us to him. He believes he is not the one to make Nika happy - understandable. As the story progresses, however, and Nika continues to uncover ways they can make it work, his continual denial turns into an annoying whine. Buck up and help figure it out if you love her!!!! Sheesh, already!!!

2. There are too many interesting characters taking up too many chapters. So much so that what should have enhanced an already riveting story ended up tipping over the line into disjointed. I found myself being tossed back and forth between so many different story-lines that I ended up grabbing one and sticking with it while skipping the rest, then returning later to finish the ones left. It would have been much more cohesive and enjoyable if Butcher would have followed the basic main and secondary plot-lines with all others entering as supporting cast only until the time their own stories could be given star billing.
