I have found the Kate Shugak series by Dana Stabenow to be very enjoyable, and I believe most (if not all) are available on cassette or CD.

I listen to about 5-6 audio books a month, and mysteries are my favorite kind of audio book.  So here's a few recommendations:

  • Sue Grafton's Alphabet Mysteries (starting with A is for Alibi)
  • J.D. Robb's In Death series (starting with Naked in Death) - Romantic Suspense
  • Brian Freeman (Immoral, Stripped & Stalked)
  • P.J. Tracy's Monkeewrech series (Monkeewrench, Live Bait, Dead Run, & Snow Blind)
  • Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (starting with One for the Money)
  • Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas series (starting with Odd Thomas) - paranormal mystery
  • William Kent Krueger's Cork O'Connor series (starting with Iron Lake)
  • Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody series (starting with Crocodile on the Sandbank) - historical mysteries about a pair of Victorian Egyptologists

That should keep you busy for a while!

Lee Child - the Jack Reacher series

John Sandford - the Prey series.

Marshall Karp: only 2 in the series, both available on CD: The Rabbit Factory and Bloodthirsty

Hope these help!

You have many of my favorites on your list!  Here are some others that I have read that you might enjoy!

Phillip Margolin

Alex Kava (books are good, but they are not for the faint of heart!)

Tess Gerritsen  (just finished her series and really enjoyed it)

Harlan Coben (he has a series with Myron Bolitar.  I have only read a couple of those, but I love his stand alones).

Karin Slaughter
