So many people, so many losses. There are numerous people and their stories that come together at Lost Lake. Sarah Addison Allen is a consistent five star author, perhaps because she can write a book that is a gentle story, when so much is about loss. She is able to make the read quick and uplifting, with her special touch of the unexplainable, or magic. Story moves nicely, without excess words. This book, as her others, is a sure fire bestseller, a very enjoyable read. I won this ARC from goodreads contest, with expectation of unbiased review.

Sarah Addison Allen does it again. When I get one of her books I always put it aside because I know I am not going to want to put and it down. It never fails. I read the book in a day and it was such a wonderful treat to myself. I lost myself at Lost Lake for Memorial Day and I hated to have to return. To me, reading one of this author's books it like ice cream, to be savored not devoured........but you can't help yourself!

This is one of those books you want to read to cheer your days. It's a story about two of the Morris women, most of whom suffer from a "curse." They lose their beloved husbands and fall apart for most of the rest of their lives. In addition, family members want to have money, the more the better. There are two exceptions - Eby and Kate, and this is their story. Eby loved George since she met him in grade school. When he inherits money and they marry, Eby's family believes that what's hers is theirs. When they give their money away, the family refuses to have anything to do with them but they make a life of their own. When George dies Eby has a community to support her and continues to live a full life at Lost Lake, where they operated a resort. Now she is thinking about selling when Kate and her daughter arrive to visit Kate's long lost aunt. The story unfolds from this encounter with love and compassion. Good story with a good ending.

A little predictable, a little slow at times, but a lovely magical story that wants you to stay with it. It's a light, enjoyable read.

Young widow Kate finds herself drawn to Lost Lake, the home of her happiest childhood memories. It turns out to be the perfect place for her and her daughter to heal. This story is a great story about acceptance with a nice touch of romance and fantasy.

I loved this book! It's a little like Alice Hoffman's writing with a little less magic, but it's a beautiful story, beautifully written.

A sweet, simple, yet complicated story of love loss and hope. Not my favorite of this authors works, but still a sweet story to help pass the time.

Just love all the books this author writes, with their quirky characters and that touch of magic! However, there is something new in this one, as well as the intro to her next book. She is starting to include gay men in the line up of characters. Really don't know what to think of this... To me, these particular characters are unnecessary to the overall plot, so I don't know what her point is. Isn't her fan base large enough that she is now trying to expand it more? Just sayin'. D.
