Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13
Lost Moon The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13 Author:Jim Lovell, Jeffrey Kluger Astronaut Lovell chronicles his harrowing, nearly fatal, failed mission to the moon, describing his crew's ingenuity in returning safely to Earth. The untold story of the American moon shot that almost ended in a fatal catastrophe, told by the flight's commander, offers a thrilling chronicle of courage, heroism, and adventure.
This book was very good, and I enjoyed reading it. I was surprised that it was written in the third person since I thought it would be Jim Lovell's memories, but they address that at the end in the epilogue. He explains that since the efforts to return Apollo 13 to Earth involved a large number of people, they felt an omniscient narrative would be more appropriate. At any rate, the story itself is so compelling, and this book takes you on the nuts-and-bolts story of what was happening backstage while the drama played out internationally. Fascinating.
