I had very low expectations for this book, usually "award winning" or "examination of...." are code words for just say no. This is Greenidge's first book and she had a story, words to tell the story and it leaves me without words. The nuances and layers to this book are extraordinary. Nothing hits like a two by four, rather I had to pause many times to allow the story to rest in my head.
