This series is so popular in the UK that unread copies are collectors' items and selling for over 100 pounds! Yet none of them have reviews online. The is a puzzle! This tale is an interesting one with well-drawn characters and the 16th century background seems authentic. Spies and blackmail draw County Constable Matthew Stock from the country to London to get to the bottom of it all. But it is his wife! Joan who has the answer and saves the day. yay! Gritty and unselfconscious style adds to the list of positives. Recommended.
Leaps and bounds over the first. Starts with action that engages your curiosity and keeps you engaged until the very end.
A well conceived story of mayhem and political intrigue. What motivates individuals and how long does a spirit nurse the wrongs it receives?
Familiar characters keep this interesting though this is a complete work of fiction.
I love Joan! A simple merchant's wife she's not.
