This is not a standard Jack Higgins-Harry Patterson book. It is a story of a young soldiers' emergence from war and how he goes on in the world. It is different and not a suspense, more like a real life experience. If you are a Patterson-Higgens fan, it is a definite read, just because.

This book is a sheer delight, and about as different from a Jack Higgins thriller as any novel could be. The time is 1949. The place is the outskirts of industrial Leeds in the North of England. Twenty year old Oliver Shaw has just emerged from the army-world-weary but eager to grab life by the handlebars. He needs a job, he needs a dream, but-most of all-he needs the love of a good woman. And if he can't find a good woman, almost any other kind will do.
Here is Higgins' own story, the memory novel of a naive young soldier's emergence into a world that had changed forever. A journey into our collective past, Memoirs of a Dance-Hall Romeo is richly nostalgic and vibrantly realistic entertainment.
