Does anyone remember a book about a colonists space ship that has an emergency situation that requires everyone to evacuate into life pods that hold two persons..a husband and wife get separated and she ends up with another man and bad things happen to her..all of the pods are radio? connected and her husband  (as well as everyone else ) can hear what is happening to her.....would love to read this again.....also would love to read the "People " books by Zenna Henderson...Thanks to anyone who can help with this.

Is it possible that the book is Lifeboat by James White?  It came out in 1972.
