I'm not sure how I feel about this book. The plot unfolds from the POV of the mother, Holly, and in the beginning, I felt she kept losing herself in thoughts that meandered all over the place. She could seem like a loving mother one minute and then a shallow, self absorbed, possibly mentally unstable person the next. It is still difficult to stop reading because you wonder what is really happening. It takes quite awhile to get to the point where you think you might know and it becomes really creepy to experience it playing out. The mother seems mostly clueless, but I fear for her in her denial. Despite thinking I knew more than Holly and could clearly see what was right in front of her, I found nothing was what I thought and I am left quite disturbed! I am torn between describing it as clever or describing it as horrifying.
