"A self-confident performance by an old hand. . . . Mr. Fraser clearly enjoys being master of such a wide and wild plot and makes sure to leave room in it for his most famous creation, the eponymous hero of his Flashman adventure series."The New Yorker

My husband and I have read all of the "Flashman" books - a great mix of humor, history, and intrigue. I started to read Black Ajax, and my husband kindly pointed me to Mr. America instead. (Black Ajax is filled with doom)

Mr. America is a fun read and like Flashman has a hero of questionable character. The book even features drop-in visits from the aging General Flashman, and one of his relations.
