This book is more about Wentworth Cabot, Mark Twain's 'traveling secretary' in this series. It follows Cabot as he visits the art museums of Florence, Italy, and makes friends among the arty set of Americans living in that city. Cabot also considers taking a job with an art dealer. Will he leave Twain without a secretary, just as they are preparing to go on a world tour?

Unfortunately, one of Cabot's new friends is killed and guess who the main suspect is? So neither Cabot or Twain is leaving town right now.

We see more of Cabot's character developed but Twain is more 2-dimensional in this book. The other main character we learn to like is the Italian police officer tasked with shadowing Cabot.

However, it is Twain who, once again, solves the murders.

I love this series! Lots of fun, authentic dialogue, wonderful characters, great plot - I don't require more than this. If you like historical mysteries, you owe it to yourself to read this Mark Twain mysteries. I was unable to find these at my local B&N so was thrilled to find them here, at PaperBackSwap.
