Anthea's Godmother escorted her for a season in London. During this time Anthea met many people who gossiped with her about the London society. Her mistake was making small comics depicting each of these characters very well. One included her godmother and her current lover the Duke of Axminster, which was published! He godmother devised to have him marry Anthea in order to convince her husband that she wasn't cheating on him. Anthea figured she had to marry him since it was her fault in the first place. But that didn't mean she had to do anything else with him. Especially since it seemed he still loved her Godmother, enough to marry Anthea so that he could still see her as much as possible.
