The Upfield Napoleon Bonaparte series give a great feel for the setting of early to mid 20th century Australia but are generally a little weak in plot. Good light read.

This book is on the Gorbus top 50 mysteries of all times list. Boney the detective in action without all the personal angst found in some of the Upfield offerings. Setting is in a remote part of Austrailia

I enjoy all the Bony mysteries, and the plots are always complicated enough for mystery lovers who don't want to know who the criminal is by the middle of the book.
In this one, Bony is sent to Split Point, Victoria, to identity the naked dead man whose body was discovered in a lighthouse. He is also tasked to discover who killed him. He goes there undercover, as he often does in these books, and, as you expect, eventually fulfills both of his missions.
But it doesn't stop there, as it is much more complicated than that. But I won't spoil that part for you by even referring to it here.
I had a lot to do at home today. Didn't get that much done. I kept coming back to this book, as I JUST HAD to know!
