I'm having trouble parting with this book; I enjoyed it so much. Vane Kattalakis is a Were-Hunter wolf who is wanted dead by his enemies. He isn't looking for a mate but the Fates have marked Bride as his. Now Bride is a wonderful, loving woman. When her latest boyfriend had no more use for her he broke up with her. So Bride has sworn off men but deep down inside she still yearns for a knight in shining armor.

What makes Bride special is not only her personality, character and long auburn hair and porcelain skin, but the fact that, by today's standards, at a size 18, she is overweight. For a large woman to be the heroine of a romance book was quite brave of the author. She is also quite feminine though she can be tough when she needs to be. She's no hard, skinny heroine out to kick someone's butt. In almost all of the paranormal romances I read, the woman are either fashion model thin, underweight, tall and willowy, have perfect figures, etc. and often have hard personalities. I could immediately identify with Bride because of her imperfections. In fact, her weight was why her last boyfriend broke off with her. He used her trust and giving nature against her.

Then along comes gorgeous Vane and he sees Bride through her shop window and is smitten. Whenever Bride is shown through Vane's point of view, you see how beautiful he sees her; how turned on he is by her; how much he wants her despite her humanity. Vane sees her preparing to close up, vacuuming and crying. Her tears move him and he enters the shop. And then we're in for some steamy sex....

When he leaves, Vane thinks he'll never see her again. That it'd be better this way. But again, the Fates intervene. He has 3 weeks to either convince Bride that the supernatural is real, not an easy task since Bride thinks the supernatural just doesn't exist. If Vane fails to convince her, he'll end up neutered. Meanwhile, his brother Fang lies in a comatose state because of their enemies, and Vane's enemies continue their attempts to kill him.

This story has it all and is especially strong on character development and an action plot. It's my favorite Night Hunter book so far. I couldn't put it down and read it in one evening.

I was looking forward to Vane and Bride's story since they first meet! I was even more excited with the excerpt from the book!! It paled in comparison to the actual read! I sat down and read it in one night! I love the chemistry between Bride and Vane, the characters are well sensitive and flawed without being overly whiny. There are a couple slightly cheesy revenge scenes but even those are at the very least fun. I've already gone back and read it twice more.

I think that this is my favorite Dark Hunter story. The Heroienne is not a thin, toothpick thin blonde. He thinks she's perfect. In the end, she saves herself from a would be killer. The sex scenes are hot.

This was a fun read with a strong female heroine - this was a lighter take on the Dark Hunter theme for Kenyon. Definitely enjoyable for the Kenyon fan.

Another great addition to the Dark Hunter series. This one focuses on Vane Kattalakis and Bride McTierney.

He is a were-hunter who has been down and out and never accepted for who and what he was. His pack is trying to hunt and kill him and his brother Fang.

Enter Bride who is a woman who has never been truly accepted by her boyfriend, who thinks she is fat and needs to lose weight. She is bright and funny, but has low self esteem because she has always been put down by people because of her weight.

Vane sees her and thinks she is beautiful - neither of them know that they are destined to become mates...They both think that they are not good enough for each other - Vane doesn't want to put her in the middle of his mess, and she thinks that because he is so attractive, he can't really want her and he will leave her like her ex-boyfriend did.

A great book - I recommend it!

Definitely not one of the best books I've read, but it's still worth the time it takes since its a quick fluff read. Even though it's not the first in the series, I decided to go ahead and read it since I had it on hand and I don't think it made a difference since most events are explained well enough that the average person can probably figure out what's going on in the series.

At first, there were a lot of laughs from conversations that take place between characters, but eventually this got old and eventually became corny since it seems everything needed to be answered with a witty quip. Not to mention the puns that were things only a reader should notice, yet the characters in the conversations seemed to have no problem knowing what was meant. (e.g. Italian vs. eye-talian) There's also misplaced sarcastic jokes, such as Bride being so witty after she was supposed to be raped yet was rescued in the nick of time.

There's also things that could be considered plot holes. What kind of vet's daughter just lets her pets out to roam to go potty in the city and doesn't take them out on a leash? Are there no laws for leashes or cleaning up after your pet in this author's universe? Also, why didn't she call shelters or animal control after finding a stray wolf in the city? TSTL alert here. Normal people would do this, since "tamed" wolves would never be treated so flippantly by someone who should know better.

There's also holes in the physics and magic in the story that border on ridiculous. The author likes to give the characters a wide variety of powers, which should get them out of any problem, yet there's always a weakness that just doesn't seem to jive but happens at the author's whim.

The story also could've gone more in-depth if the author took the time to build on plots and subplots. Instead, she wasted a lot of ink with her lead characters constantly worried about Bride's weight, how "hot" Vane is compared to Bride or other such insecurities. It really got annoying when Bride was constantly worried about if she should have dessert or not.

Overall, it's an okay story, but I prefer books (or series) like this to be darker and more complex with stronger female leads (or at least less whiny ones) and just better developed characters all-around.

My shelves contain quite a number of Sherrilyn Kenyon books and this is my favorite of them all. Not only is Vane thoughtful and loving but he may well be the most appreciative Alpha males I've ever found in a book. He adores his woman for many things including the very things that have caused Bride to be rejected by other men. He comes to her rescue again and again. And I love the dialogue, especially the parts between Vane and his look-alike pack-mate, Fury. Kenyon is great at snappy conversation. I won't be listing this one. Its place on my shelf is permanent.

This book was great! The sex scenes were not as detailed as in previous books which I found refreshing. I also loved that a "normal" women was used in the book instead of a size 1 character. This made the book even more believable and very hard to put down. I think this may be the best of the books so far.

Wonderful.

This is Vane and Bride's story.

The beginning went right into the action. Not a disappointing moment throughout the book. Maybe except Fang didn't play much of a part. He should've been.

I have to admit I was a little afraid of reading the were-hunter's book. But it surprised the heck outta me cuz this book has to be just as good or better than the dark-hunter books. It is a nice change of pace from the dark-hunters. I'm glad we get a look into the other side of their magical world. The side of the were-hunters.

An issue though: The guy displayed on the cover? I just can't picture the Vane she talks about and describes in the book as looking like the one on the cover. That totally ruins the book when you have to imagine a not-so-great stud muffin when the description of Vane is so much better.

I just got done with this one and I love it. This is one of my faves. The scene at Bride's house with the family is great. Vane is great. This book is great. Looking forward to Fang's book.

Another great hot and juicy Dark-Hunter Book. Vane, a Were-Hunter Wolf, finds himself incredibly attracted to plus-size Bride, a boutique owner. I love how Kenyon continues her characters throughout the series using the theory of Six degrees of separation.

While this book was enjoyable, it didn't have me on the edge of my seat for most of the book and it had a few flaws. Bride was a heroine that had major self image issues, which bordered on annoying. The ending seemed a little rushed and Bride has a complete character change in the last few pages. So that's my deal with giving this book a 4. I liked Vane very much, and could see the set up of the next book in the series, Valerius and Tabitha's, which I am really looking forward. All in all, not the best in the Dark Hunter Series, but I'm one book closer to Acheron!

Dark-Hunter novel. This story takes a side trip into the world of the Were-Hunters, with appearances from some the original DH characters. Bride McTierney has had it with men...just dumped by a boyfriend who used her as an "in" for a TV job...she still yearns for a man who can love her for who she is. But instead of her new man being a dog like the old one, this one is a wolf. Vane Kattalakis isn't what he seems. A Were-Hunter wolf, he is wanted dead by his father, the alpha wolf. The fates have marked Bride as his mate, but how can be convince a human to accept a man who turns furry and does he have the right to put his mate's life at risk along with his own. He has three weeks to decide and convince her, or spend the rest of her life neutered. What a decision!

What can I say about Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter books? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE them!!! This one in particular is my favorite. I just fell in love with Vane. He has had a tough time within his pack, which his brother, Fang and him got kicked out of. Bride has had it with men in genral because they all treat her like scum. When these two get together the sparks, fur and clothes begin to fly. This is a must read!!!

As always I loved this book. I've never found a DH book that I didn't love, they are the perfect brain candy!!! I found this book in a box of quarter books at a flea market and I actually squealed out loud (lol)! It was a hot romance with plenty of plot in-between. Imagine tring to convince someone they are destined to be with you in just 3 weeks after just one quicky. Adding to that Bride had just been dumped by long time boyfriend and has had with men altogether. Vane was a very sweet, loving, protective guy that you could instantly fall in love with easily! The only complaint I had was that the brother he had been mourning and begging to "wake up" and return to his life does and it is given roughly one page! What's up with that?!?!? Then instead of going to his brother and checking on him, asking what's up or just tring to chase after him, Vane gets on stage sings a sappy love song and asks Bride to marry him in the traditional way and basically ingnores the fact that his "long lost" brother is awake. I just would have liked to have a little more interest payed to poor Fang. (That said, I read the DH series out of order, whoever stikes me interesting I read, so I've already read Fang and Aimee's story. So I know what was up and why Fang didn't want Vane with him but, still. In Fangs story I believe more time had passed since Vane and Bride got together and Fangs awakening.) Love it, as always SK and DH series rock and I will continue to read them until I get them all read!! I think I'll read Seize the Night next, then Wren's story (apparently tied together) and then the new one No Mercy. I love the Dark-Hunters but, also love the Ware-Hunter angle too!!

This is my FAVORITE Dark Hunter book. Vane & Bride will always hold a place of honor on my reading shelf! I love the entire Dark Hunter series ( thanks to my daughter for turning me on to them!) And they are all keepers - But this one is just that little extra special. I love how Sherrilyn Kenyon describes Bride as a larger woman. She's not the usual "model" type found in most romance. Kudos to the author! And Vane - well, what can I say.... Lighter read than the previous 5 books in the series.

For me, Vane's story is one of the best of the Dark Hunter's. A lot of it I think is Vane is totally in love with a woman like one of us (over size 12). Out of all the novels I've read with vampires, lycans, demons etc. this one touched me a little more for that one reason. You're love it. Bride is one of us and she lands a drop dead gorgeous wolf.

I didn't actually mean to read this book when I did; but when I was checking the reading order of the series, this one had high marks all around, so I dug in. I read it in 2 days (I normally give myself 4 days for a book of this type - 5 if I am busy at work). It was a really fun read! It was a departure from the other DH novels, in that it focused on characters from other arenas. Ash makes a few fun appearances as do several beloved DHs from past books. I REALLY appreciate the heroine though! I am thin but my BFF (for over 30 years) is a lovely Full-Figured woman. I LOVE that this book featured someone who looked like her. Someone who worried about the same things she worries about, someone who is often left in the cold by romance novels. This is definitely an underserved, underrepresented population. This book featured the standard hunk-of-a(nearly)-man who carries the standard baggage all heros carry, with the standard, "will-she-love-me-for-who-I-REALLY-am" worries; but he loves the woman who is often ignored. Overall, this was great to read and I recommend it - especially for the female reader who isn't built like a supermodel~ you won't be disappointed.

This is the sixth novel in Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. It differs from the others a bit because there's very little action and all romance--the focus is entirely on the couple. Bride is an ordinary, average human woman who has recently had her heart broken. Vane is a Were-Hunter who is surprised to find that fate has chosen Bride as his mate.

The best way to describe the bulk of this book is very cheesy romance. It's sweet and silly and laugh-out-loud funny. Vane is a very appealing hero, while Bride is easy to relate to. Not the best of Kenyon's books, but still worth reading.

What makes Night Play a cut above the rest in the Dark Hunter series, is the fact that it's totally character driven. (For me, it's always about the character.) I adored the heroine, Bride. She's a real woman and her feelings are so well expressed (by showing not telling,) SK hits dead on with this one.

The book starts out with Bride being dumped by her selfish boyfriend of 5 yrs. Not five minutes after she received her dumping papers, via HER OWN fedex account no less- we meet the hero who swoops in for the rescue.

The hero, Vane, is alpha male to the max, of course the fact that he's what basically amounts to a werewolf in Kenyon's world has a lot to do with that.

Vane is totally focused on she-who-is-to-become-his-mate from the get go. Most of us average never-been-a-cheerleader-non-101-lb women know it's pure fantasy to believe that a man, gorgeous and ripped, would fall for us so completely and totally- but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy the fantasy of it! AND Most every woman wants her man to think she's the most beautiful creature on earth and long to be told that, as well as shown. Vane does it spades. And that's what makes one fall for him and this book too.

After years of verbal abuse by her ex, Bride's ready for some attention like Vane dishes out, even though she can hardly believe she deserves it.

There is a scene where Vane asks her to meet him at her favorite restaurant- the one which the ex never took her too because he didn't want to be seen with her, unfortunately when she arrives Vane is nowhere to be found and reservations have not been made. She stands outside only to realize her ex is coming up on her with a perfect babe on his arm. They snicker like high-schoolers at Bride and saunter in while she stands outside clutching her shawl around her, attempting to make herself invisible and thinking she's been stood up.

Right then I fell in love with the story. The first part was too unbelievable, (Vane and Bride get it on a little to early in the story AND c'mon he's just too sexy to be believed.)

But feeling like an idiot because you actually felt good about yourself for awhile only to be knocked back down into the crab pot of life once again? That I can buy into.

Never fear, Vane rescues her in stellar fashion. And, despite the typical Knight in Shining Armor cliche, the story plays out to a satisfying end. I loved every single page!!!!

Bride McTierney has had it with men. They're cheap, self-centered and never love her for who she is. But though she prides herself on being independent, deep down she still yearns for a knight in shining armor.

She just never expected her knight in shining armor to have a shiny coat of fur...

Deadly and tortured, Vane Kattalakis isn't what he seems. Most women lament that their boyfriends are dogs. In Bride's case, hers is a wolf. A Were-Hunter wolf. Wanted dead by his enemies, Vane isn't looking for a mate. But the Fates have marked Bride as his. Now he has three weeks to either convince Bride that the supernatural is real or he will spend the rest of his life neutered-something no self respecting wolf can accept...

But how does a wolf convince a human to trust him with her life when his enemies are out to end his? In the world of the Were-Hunters, it really is dog-eat-dog. And only one alpha male can win.

A fun read with all your Dark-Hunter characters in the mix! This was a fast read!

Totally 5 star writing. Vane and his brother Fang was left for dead by his father for the hate that man has for their mother, but also for them helping Dark Hunters protects a certain someone. Vane saved himself and his brother from that hanging out to die, but his brother wasn't in the same shape to save himself. After a group of Diamons sucked most of Fangs soul, Vane got them selves to Sanctuary. Well six months later Fang is still a comatose wolf. Vane dealing with grief over his brother and his sister, Vane walked into an area that 'fate' brought him to. He still hasn't gotten a certain human female out of his thoughts.

Bride had a breakup letter from her snake of a boyfriend, which she basically paid for to be sent, telling her she wasnt good enough to be with him and told her she should have lose the weight to be able to stay with him. Heart stricken by his way of thinking Bride tried to pull her life together as best as she could. While she was cleaning a customer walked in and she turn and saw a masculine well built man and know she would never have a shot at someone like him but she girded her loins and helped her customer.

Since the moment Vane saw Bride again he know he had to have her, his human half was always at war with his human half somehow coexists when he sees her again. They talked, hooked up in the dressing room, they went they separate ways, but fates as they are chose that moment in his time to chose his mate, a human female he has no idea how to protect or court her. Well Vane went through a lot to win her but since he has a death card hanging over him and his brother's head he didnt dare take a mate. Vane and Bride both had to go through a lot of hardships to work together and to overcome their negative sights to be together as one.
