I first encountered Lileks' work in his delightful books on awful home decor and horrible-sounding recipes. They were funny and entertaining so I began searching out more of his stuff. His essays on a wide variety of topics are amusing, clever, even provoked me to outright laughter. Never over-the-top, but always engaging.
