Amazing commentary about the real way the iraq war is run by boots on the ground.

Most of the "personal memoir" type books I have read about the Gulf wars leave much to be desired. Some I have even simply tossed after a few chapters. This one has real substance.

As a former Marine officer from the Viet Nam era, I was impressed with the description of training and dedication to leadership related by the author.

His thoughts on leadership made me feel akin to him, even if he was one of those "recon nuts."

I really recommend this read to not just those interested in the Gulf Wars, but to those interested in good leadership.

I like ideas about leadership and making decisions. Also the training versus the reality of combat makes one think.
