There are some books that you just don't want to give too much away in, and this is definitely one of them. We come into the book after the rebellion. Trella has the weight of the world on her shoulders as she jumps into roles that a 17 year old girl would not be involved in. It's a little unbelievable that a little girl ends up in the position she does, but that's one of the reasons that I like dystopian novels. I love the warnings that we, as a citizen, can take regardless if the story involved is believable or not. Anyways, we follow Trella through dangerous adventures in which she risks her life, grows up a lot, and has her very own teenage love problems. Does everything work out in the end? I'm sure you would hope not and beg Ms. Snyder to continue this series (which I prefer to the Glass Series).
I absolutely adore Maria Snyder. I've read her other series, the Study series and the Poison series, so I knew going into this series that I probably wouldn't be disappointed. And of course, I wasn't. Snyder is such a talented writer. She can spin an amazing story. I stayed up until 4am last night to finish this book because I absolutely didn't want to put it down. After I finished the first book of this series, Inside Out, I wanted to throw the book across the room. Can you say major cliff hanger?! Thankfully, this book doesn't end on such a note. We start right off from where Inside Out left. I had read the first book months ago so it took a few pages to get back into the groove of things for me. Once it started, it didn't let up. Trella goes through quite a bit in this book and I was rooting for her the entire time. There are a lot of twists and turns that are unexpected and people you thought you could trust turn out to be the enemy. Snyder is definitely on my top 5 list of favorite authors. If you enjoyed this series, you must read the others. All of them are amazing!
