Agatha Raisin - MC Beaton. The perfect pairing for a cozy mystery. Even though this is the 16th in the series - it does not feel formulaic at all. MC Beaton manages to keep you engaged with Agatha and care about what happens to her. A great read.

Agatha Raisin was nearly killed by her former secretary. Not to mention a hired hit man. Otherwise, she probably would not have accepted the case when Robert Smedley walks through the door of her detective agency requesting that she get the goods on his wife. Agatha hates divorce cases. This one quickly turns into murder and Smedley's wife--the perfect paragon of the title--hires Agatha to find out who killed her husband and why.

Unhappily divorced private detective Agatha Raisin generally avoids divorce cases, and she takes an immediate dislike to Robert Smedley, a prissy control freak convinced that his wife Mabel is seeing another man. However, Agatha needs the work, so she accepts the man as a client. Although Agatha cant find any evidence of Mabels infidelity, the case takes a nasty and intriguing turn when someone murders Robert and the police pin the crime on Mabel.

I love this series. My only disappointment is that I only have two more to read...

Oh no! Agatha is getting a bit mellow with age along with a few creaky body parts. She is still looking for love, solving mysteries in her heavy intrusive mannner, and heavens forbid she is actually giving credit where credit is due. I dont know if I can tolerate this almost nice Agatha, but the book is still a fun and easy read. Oh and look forward to the surprise at the end - no peeking.

Agatha Raisin is at it again. Adding employees to her PI agency, who are unconventional. And she as always is found interfering with the police. When one of her clients dies Agatha and her eccentric staff look for the killer and try to avoid being victims. I always like Agatha Raisin because she is not your usual detective, not always likeable but is interesting.

Typical Agatha Raisin mystery with a more modern edge than many of the others.

Agatha's detective agency has been forced to accept divorce cases to remain solvent. Now a pompous businessman is trying to obtain proof of his wife's infidelity. As Agatha and her team investigate, all they can find is that the woman is the perfect wife.

Another fun addition to the series.

Ms. Beaton never disappoints...another good mystery with Agatha Raisin and the Carsely village denizens on the case.

I LOVE this series, but this particualr book, while better than the average murder mystery, was somewhat perdictable. Yes, I still recommend it. Still worth your time to read.

Typical MC Beaton. A formula, but a kind of comforting one. Good book for a quick read on a rainy or snowy day. This one is after she starts her own agency, and has less of the man-trapping in it than the previous ones. I kind of like her attempts to attract men - haven't we all been there?
