I just printed postage for media mail, normal size paper back going from Mo. to Ut. and it cost me $4.53 needless to say I won't be posting and mailing out any books at these prices. !!!

Did the book package weigh over 4 lbs?  $4.53 would be the USPS media mail 5 lb rate for a book(s) and/or other media mail eligible items weighing between 4 and 5 lbs all packaged up.

If the packaged book doesn't weigh that much then it should've been a lot less.  What postage program did you use - or did you use PBS postage?  If you used PBS postage and the package weight is less than 4 to 5 lbs, then you should immediately contact PBS to get a postage refund.  That is, if you haven't mailed it out already as you can't do that if you already mailed it.
