Ok, so, read the FAQ on this, figured I would give it a try again since the bugs are supposed to be out of the system.  I go and mail my books at the post office, drop them in the box in the lobby because I CAN because I used the printable postage and don't have to wait in line.....come back, mark them sent....expect to see the credits applied to my account because that's WHAT THE FAQ says...but no.  So, I  am posting the FAQ AND what my account says above my mailed books.  WHAT?  What is going on now?  I don't understand...has something changed and they haven't updated the FAQ?

Why use it?     * Printed postage means you can mail your package as you like.  The USPS regulations that require packages over 13 ounces to be handed to a postal worker in a Post Office do not apply.     * Printed postage means no fussing with stamps, no standing in line at the Post Office.     * You will also get INSTANT credit if you print your postage through PBS--you will get your credit when you mark the book mailed by clicking the "Book Has Been Mailed" button on the request.

We appreciate you sharing your books with other members. As a reminder, once the book that you have mailed is marked received by the other Club Member (or when USPS transmits barcode scan information from a book sent with PBS-DC), you will receive your book credit. Then you can request another book of your choice from any member! The U.S. Postal service estimates that the normal "ship time" for Media Mail is approximately 14-21 days depending on where it is shipped across the nation. Below is the list of books you have marked mailed that have not been marked received yet.

You mean you used PBS printable postage, right?

Did you look in your credit registry under the my account tab to see for certain if you got the credit or not?

Also, how much time did you allow between marking the book mailed and looking for your credit.  I wonder if there is not a delay of a few minutes for the info to get through the system?

The message at the top of the my account could just be a generic message that is posted for all books that are mailed.

You can also check your money registry to make sure that both the cost for the DC/PBS fee and the postage came out  of your account.  If only the DC/PBS fees are showing then only that feature was used and you will get credit when the book is marked received.

I did use PBS postage and it was several hours between.  I just wasn't expecting that message and I was thinking it had something to do with the DC, like if you use the pbs postage without the dc then you get instant credit but if you use the DC too then you don't?  No idea but I wrote the powers that be so hopefully i will have an answer.  I definately don't have the credits issued for the books I marked mailed.  :::scratching head:::

I love it here and I SO want this system to work the right way!!!!

With any type of printable postage you have to use DC. Hopefully R&R can resolve this quickly for you :)

I think the term "instant credit" is quite misleading.  I never once when using PBS postage and DC got instant credit, I only use it now when I want to ensure a credit for what ever reason because if the book goes lost I know using DC will eventually get me my credit, but as for instant, I think that is definitely not the case, at least not for me.

In the beginning I was having some issues with PBS printed postage. But, the last 10-15 books I have mailed using it as soon as I clicked Mailed...I had the credit.

Sometimes I get the credit an hour or so later but I have always gotten it within a reasonable time.

I hope we get postage with custom DC soon. Most of my swap books tend to weigh more than 13 ounces so I still have to make the PO trip.

Sandy -- are you 100% sure you don't have the credits? Did you check your credit registry? My books sent with printable postage are getting their credits within a minute or two. Sometimes it takes longer to get the email telling me I got the credit, but the credit is actually available right away (you might even say "instantly" :-)

Books mailed with DC but not printable postage do not qualify for instant credit. They still get quick credits the first time they're scanned though.

I don't see them in the transaction registry but they did send me an email that I didn't see for both books, so that is my mistake.  I guess I DID get the credit, but still don't understand the communication there under my account.  I guess it doesn't matter as long as I got the credits but it's so confusing.  So I DID get the email, can't find the transaction and still have the odd communication on my account page where it shows the books I've mailed.  My head hurts! LOL

Sandy....check the CREDIT Registry. It will show credits received or "spent". There is also a link for Transaction Detail for each + or -.

I use the printable postage and I have an email at the end of the day that I have gotten a credit, or by the next morning at the latest.

I don't understand if you can go to the PO then come home and find your credit.  The book is still in the blue box. I would try at the end of the day.  I think of it as quick(er) credit!

You're not alone.  The first several times I used printable postage, I did NOT receive instant credit, but rather the normal quick credit upon scan.  I think that unless someone has had this happen to them, they are going to assume it's not possible.  I even got a response from R&R when I mentioned how suprised I was to have received instant credit the last time I shipped because I had never experienced it before... and he reaffirmed their stance that it always happens that way.  But it really hadn't for me.  And no, I didn't just use DC, it was postage and I have never ever (not even once) purcahsed DC all by itself.

Hi Andrea,  The "instant" credit started on September 24th.  Before that, we did have to wait for the scan.  Now, everyone should see the credit after marking the book mailed whether it is scanned or not.  :-)

I have been using the printable postage exclusively and so far since 9/24, every time I click "book has been mailed" I get that credit instantly. The e-mail also arrives in my inbox virtually instantly too. If that's not happening for you, there must be a glitch, or if you're thinking of books mailed before that date, then yes...it was different then, they changed how it works. It should show up in your credit registry. The scan only matters with regard to when you get a credit if you use DC *only* not the DC WITH printable postage.

Sandy, it will not show up in your Transaction Archive until the other member RECEIVES the book. Anything that's in transit is going to show up only in the tabs on your main account page. Look in the CREDIT REGISTRY and it should show a green +1 for each of those books.

I've only used the PBS printable postage twice now....but both times I received my credit within seconds of marking my books as mailed.

Maybe you just caught the system at a busy time and it took awhile to update so that your credit appeared....

Hugs! Juli

In the beginning, there were issues, but now I get instant credit (within minutes) once I use printable postage feature.

(I'd never gotten the Quick Credit feature with just DC used to work properly, I often did not receive the quick credit.  But the printable postage/Instant Credit feature -is- working for me.)
