"A Private Hunger" is about a waiter named Matthew who meets the mysterious Drakon. Matt is drawn to Drakon and is offered a job, which he immediately declines. However, after a run in with some trouble, Matt is saved by Drakon and is persuaded to stay with the man. Yet not all is at it seems as Matt soon discovers the more involved he becomes with Drakon the more he becomes isolated from all he has ever known.
This book seemed to have a good premises. Based on other reviews, I thought it would be a fun little read, but as I quickly began to read - I soon realized you'd have to be in a certain mood to probably enjoy the book. To be honest, the book read a lot like a fanfic (as in a PWP "plot-what-plot") then an actual short novel. The writing-style and characters are pretty basic, so for some who fancy character development - there really is none.
This story had potential, but the plot never really seems to go anywhere. There are no twists or turns, issues that Matt faces are quickly resolved in a matter of one or two pages, or they really aren't addressed as they should be and quickly become forgotten. However, if you are reading for pure smut then sex scenes run like every two to three pages or so. Personally if you really want steamy and well laid-out scenes with dragon shape shifters, "The Draegan Lords" by M.L. Rhodes has a stronger plot, character development and M/M scenes that puts this book to shame.
I'd recommend this book if you want something simple and aren't really expecting too much. It is what it is.
