A love story between a northern & southern after the Civil War. Not my kind of story, but it did hold ny interest for a summer read.

This book does have some wear but I have to tell you it is a great book! I love Karen Harper and she doesn't disappoint with this book. The time this is set in is just after the Civil War and Amanda's Husband has come home a broken man. Lincoln Garner finds his way to her boarding house and since he fought for the south and her husband fought for the north this makes for a very interesting story.Amanda is hoping that Christmas will bring her husband back to her -not just in body. Amanda helped in the war effort by being a station in the underground railroad and a former slave that she helped also finds her way back. With the holidays coming she can only hope that her husband finds his way back to reality ,all the while the attraction builds between her and Lincoln.
You find yourself really liking the people in this book.
