What a mind Karl Schroeder has to create the artificial world of Virga. This is a trilogy that starts with the "Sun of Suns" and ends with "Pirate Sun". If I had a criticism it's that he doesn't flesh out the characters as much as I would like. He is no Jordan or Martin. But, he does create a world that blows your mind. I would love to live there.
Fantastic followup for the SUN OF SUNS which focuses on Venera Fanning, the admiral's wife. In Book Two of the Virga series, reader expectations are challenged immediately when the main character of the book turns out to be the nasty spymaster who killed the love interest of the main character in Book One. The fantasy world is still man-made bodies within the sphere of Virga but this time it takes place on one of the oldest of the man-made bodies where generations of people have learned to live in tiny spaces and many things are hidden.
