Book Cover says: Harmony Parker loves animals so much that she sees one whenever she looks at a person. Her plump, fussy mother is a Pouter Pigeon; her bald, mustachioed father is a Sea Lion; and her preening older sister is a Siamese Cat. Human beings are, however, no substitute for real animals, and Harmony is at the end of her tether trying to convince her parents to let her have a pet. Just when it seems that nothing short of magic will do the trick, Harmony's wonderful Uncle Ginger (a Silvertip Grizzly) vistis from India and gives her a coin with seven wishes.

I say: Dick King-Smith, the author of Babe (about the sheep pig), knows his children and his animals - also, apparently, annoying big sisters and wonderful uncles. This story is fun, encourages thinking and imagination. As a bonus it also shows the growth of love and understanding in a family.
