I just ordered a book from someone. I was browsing their bookshelf and saw a book that I thought I'd like. Not a WL, just a new title by an author I know. When I ordered it I got the order another book to save the member postage. Then I got a screen that said proceed with the order and there was a place that said "turn off requestor conditions for this order" and a place to click. I've never noticed that before. I admit I don't order many books that way though so it may have been there and I didn't see it. For some of the strange requestor conditions we see this may be a very good thing. |

Geri, it isn't to turn off requestor conditions FROM another member, it is to turn off YOUR OWN RCs for a particular book. For instance, if you have RCs in place to receive Dustjackets for hardcover books and you are ordering a paperback. You can turn off your RCs when you order the paperback, so the other member never sees it (since it doesn't pertain to this order). This is new, to make it easier to turn off your RCs rather than the old way when you had to go into your Settings page BEFORE you placed the order and changed the RC setting. This way, if you forgot to turn off the Hardcover Dustjacket RC before you placed the order, you can now do it from the ordering page. |

I realize it was so I could turn off my requestor conditions. I thought it was a great feature because some people have long, involved RC's that have nothing to do with the particular book they're ordering. I had someone order a mmpb from me and I almost turned it down because the RC was several paragraphs long and very involved and actually pertained to a particular series of harcover books that I had never heard of. I actually didn't know what the conditions were until I reread them several times and then realizeed they had nothing to do with my book. With this feature she could have turned off those condidtions and just ordered my mmpb and saved me a lot of time and aggravation. She camethisclose to not getting that book from me.. |
