I love Susan Wiggs but sometimes her work is a little too historical for my taste. Especially her books with titles like this one. However, I enjoyed this one a lot. It was believeable and entertaining despite the fact that it is steeped in history. I loved the realtionship of the fictional characters to the historical ones. Great read.
Learned a lot about Napolean and Josephine too.

Read this book when you are in a heat wave, it is set in the Swiss Alps and just reading the snowy weather made me feel cool.

A touching story of an innocent girl who changes the heart of the man sent to kill her. The bastard daughter of the beheaded King Louis must die before she threatens the reign of Bonaparte--but the man sent to kill her finds an innocence that he desperately needs to cleanse his soul from past misdeeds.
