I reuse mine all the time and receive books (from PBS and third-party sellers on Amazon) in reused Amazon Prime envelopes a lot.  I once received a book through PBS where the other member used an old Amazon Prime padded envelope but turned it inside out.  It was delivered fine, but I don't think it was necessary.  It's not like using FedEx or UPS envelopes for US mail, which *is* a no-no.

I re-use them a lot, they are very sturdy.   Am mailing out 2 books today in them.
