This isnt my favorite John Saul book. It was just ok. The last few chapters were a little too bizarre and not at all believable.

This particular plot line has been done to death. If you really like ghost stories, it's okay but no real surprises.

The house has a life of its own....abandoned for the last forty years, surrounded by thick trees and a stifling sense of melancholy, the sprawling three-story Victorian house seems to swallow up the sunlight, along with people's lives. The Conways know nothing of the secrets that have snaked through generations of their family's past, They do not know of the terror that awaits them.

Ted inherits the Conway House, a sprawling 3-story Victorian house in the small Louisiany town of St. Albans. They move into it and find that it has a live of its own.The bloodline of the Conways' is grim, poisoned by suicide, strange disappearances, voodoo rituals, and rumors of murder. Spooky and terrifying.
