What can I say. I don't think Dorothy Garlock writes the most exciting books. But for some reason she is one of my favorites. As much as I love my suspense novels. I always reach for a Dorothy Garlock book to read on a lazy summer day on my front porch. I love her sweet style of writing. I liked this book.

Written in 2005. The story of a nurse who has just moved to a new town and what lies behind the deceptively pristine facade of the town. This is a continuation of the Jones family.

This is a book in the Jones series by Dorothy Garlock. It can be read alone or in sequence with the other books. Good plot, some suspense, good romance.

Tired of working at the Kansas City hospital, April Asbury moves to Fertile, MO, to be a small town nurse. She immediately becomes involved with the lives of the local community, especially of the Jones family. Joe Jones is very attracted to her, but his charming ways scares April, because he reminds her of the father who abandoned her and her mother. She thinks he is a flirt, who is just leading her along. A community scandal, conflict with black and white racial conditions, local flooding and a scorned town gossip fill in the background. Very enjoyable read, set in the early 1900's.
