Short and Sweet:
The Rules has an addictive story line, a few unexpected surprises, and a sweet love story. I really enjoyed this one can't wait to read what happens next with Ariane.

Ariane isn't a normal high school girl. For starters, she was created with both human and alien DNA. She has pale, almost gray skin, dark, colorless eyes, and unnaturally light hair. She can hear other people's thoughts and move objects with her mind. Everything about her, from her intentionally bland clothing, to her blue contact lenses is designed to keep her hidden in plain sight...... only 10 miles from the lab she was created in.
Ariane is in hiding with her 'father,' a man who rescued her from the research facility where she was born, and gave her his deceased daughter's identity. Ariane has lived her life quietly following rules that are meant to keep her safe, until one day when she witnesses her one and only friend being humiliated by the school's 'mean girl.' Ariane loses her temper, accidentally causing an electrical surge in the school and in the process nearly blows her cover. From here on out she struggles with her instinct to do the right thing (consequently drawing attention to herself) or protecting herself from being discovered by her creators.
Cool book! Pick this one up if you liked Mila 2.0. (It's better!) ;)
