Rumblewick's Diary 2 My Unwilling Witch Sleeps Over
Author: Hiawyn Oram
Rumblewick is a highly qualified right hand cat to the most unwilling witch in the kingdom. He's contractually bound to shape her into the most well-rounded, disgustingly terrible witch she can be, but unfortunately, Haggy would much rather be a normal little girl than do things like boil frogs and frighten children. Poor Rumblewick! Haggy's ant...  more »

On this side of the Horizon Line, Rumblewick the cat has his hands full trying to train Haggy Aggy to be a decent witch - conjuring spells and scaring children on the Other Side. But he is the unluckiest familiar, since Haggy Aggy is fascinated by all things Othersidely...so much so that it is now rumored among the familiars of the High Hags that Haggy Aggy is trying to ditch the witch way of life and become an Othersider all together.

After a scolding from HA's Aunt Pondernot, HA accidentally ends up on a roof on the Other Side, and sees Otherside girls in the building doing JIM. All of that tumbling and leaping in the air seems like so much fun, she can't wait to try it.

Forced to tag along (and miss practice for the Grand Steeple Chase Race), Rumblewick can only stand by helplessly while HA befriends two Other Side girls - Zinnia and Tulip. The girls invite Haggy Aggy to sleep over at Tulip's house, and she is absolutely thrilled...to the horror of Rumblewick.

While Haggy Aggy is at the sleepover, Rumblewick discovers that the High Hags have a reward out for anyone who can catch HA in the act of being Othersidely. Yikes and triple yikes! Poor Rumblewick has to scramble to find a way to stop HA, or they'll both be in a ton of trouble.

Full of delightful names and "this sidely" phrases, Rumblewick's diary made me giggle throughout, and is sure to do the same for any younger reluctant readers. I'll definitely be looking for more.
