This is a good sequel to The False Prince!
The kingdom is in danger and Jaron needs to find out some answers and knows there is a war bound to happen but his regents don't seem to want to listen to him. The only way he can find out the truth behind everything is to go to the pirates himself to see what is going on. He decides to bring back his civilian-styled version of himself "Sage" in order to save his kingdom.
Of course this is adventurous and there are great plans that will remind you of how well Jaron's mind had worked in the first book (loved that one). He is such a likable character. I always love reading what he thinks and seeing how considerate he is to those around him even when he struggles or if people hate him.
