ST GEORGE'S COOKS: A Collection of Recipes from The Nevil Memorial Church of St. George and The Children's Ark
ST GEORGE'S COOKS A Collection of Recipes from The Nevil Memorial Church of St George and The Children's Ark Author:All Proceeds Go Towards Church Funds! In preparation for our 75th Anniversary in 2007, St. George's congregation began reflecting on its traditions, values and history. One tradition quickly popped to the forefront. Eating! — At St. George's we love to eat. And we love to prepare all our celebrations ourselves. For our Easter Vigil, we serve roast lamb and all the trimmings for more ... more »than 100 guests. At our annual Holiday Bazaar there's a reception featuring wines and heavy hors d'oeuvres, plus breakfast, lunch, tea and a bake sale. We have a Men of St. George Cooks group. We have brunches monthly, Coffee hour with sweet treats weekly, Thanksgiving dinners in our child care center, The Children's Ark, Chili cook offs, Chicken barbecues, Strawberry festivals, Progressive dinners, Youth group dinners, New member dinners. It seems we have worked food into almost every facet of our church life. We even serve refreshments at Vestry meetings!
So it seemed only natural to create a cookbook to capture this important part of our parish life and to share it with others who are not part of our worshiping family. While some of you may be asking, "Does the world need another cookbook?" we at St. George's have the audacity to present our third offering to this bountiful genre. We produced our first cookbook in the fifties, and then published a second edition in the eighties, and now, here we come again, completing our culinary trilogy in 2003.
It is our hope that our little bound bundle of recipes will give you a taste of St. George's community and of our readiness to celebrate the goodness of the Creator. As the French say, "a' table", come to the table. At St. George's you are always welcome.« less
