Elmer Kelton has been called one of the our best western writers. This book provides evidence of why this might be true by giving the reader a look at his life. It follows him from his Texas birth on a ranch in Texas, service in the US Army, education at the Univ of Texas, days of writing at newspapers and magazines to his writing of novels. I found it interesting, and so will those interested in his writings, and how young boys grew up in the depression era to become men of statue.
