Saucy Brussel Sprouts

  • 1 tbs. butter or margarine - any brand
  • 1 tbs. finely chopped onion -
  • 2 tsp. brown sugar -
  • 1/4 tsp ground mustard - durkees
  • 1 dash pepper -
  • 1/4 cup milk -
  • 1tsp. all purpose flour -
  • 1/4 tsp. salt -

This recipe is for those who don't really like Brussel sprouts. It takes the bitter out that some don't like. Even kids like this.


Cook the sprouts according to directions,, I steam mine to keep the flavor and vitamins in.

Meanwhile in a saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender.

Stir in the brown sugar, flour, salt, mustard and pepper until blended.

Gradually add milk.

Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 1 minute.

Drain cooled sprouts, cut in half.

Add to sauce and heat through.
